Why things are the way they are

As long as these guys and people like them are considered to be acceptable on the spectrum of mainstream America:

and this guy is considered to be part of the lunatic fringe:

America will never solve its problems. Period.

I like Kagan's expression in the first video: "WTF is WRONG with you people?"

I'd love to see Kucinich be President, or VP to Franken!

To be clear, this is not about Kagan's fitness to be a Supreme Court justice. I'm not even convinced of that myself, although my objections have more to do with her decisions in support of GMO's than some imaginary idea of what is "too liberal". (And said flaw does put her in the company of other "liberals" like Stewart Brand. God, words cannot express how much I despise Stewart Brand. But I digress.)

No, that's not the point. The point is that we can't even get to that particular conversation because our discourse has been so degraded by this binary idea of the spectrum of acceptability lying between the moderate conservatives and the right-wing fanatics. And the "liberal" press feeds the same assumptions and keeps them alive.

And we can't even use the term "Overton Window" anymore because people will think we're taling about a fucking Glenn Beck novel. Pathetic.

I was thinking the same thing. Thurgood Marshall was a secular saint.

I think his main objective in writing this was to poison the meme well.
